NWC delivers 4 water purification plants in Al-Shula districts, Dammam

The National Water Company (NWC) has completed the operation of four new drinking water purification plants in the districts of Al-Shula in the city of Dammam in the Eastern Province. These plants represent the second package for the purification of drinking water in the cities and governorates of the Eastern Province. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of water for customers and expand the supply of desalinated water.

The company explained that the four plants in Al Shula district pump more than 8,000 cubic meters of desalinated water daily, using the reverse osmosis (RO) system. NWC pointed out that the company is currently working on evaluating the operational efficiency of these plants and tracking the flows of desalinated water in some networks in the targeted districts (1117, 1095, 1179 and 1243).

The company noted that the purification plants will serve more than 60,000 people in these districts and that it will continue the construction of the remaining plants in other locations in the Eastern Province, bringing the total output of the project to 76,000 cubic meters of desalinated water per day, as the total targeted output of all the project’s components.

NWC stressed that these projects come under the National Water Strategy and contribute to achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to keep pace with the urban growth witnessed by the governorates of the Eastern Province, in addition to meeting the population's needs for desalinated water on a temporary basis until additional quantities are pumped through the ongoing water quality improvement projects.
